2 years ago these two QBs were the hottest QBs in the NFL and you couldn't watch a commercial break without seeing these two doing endorsements.

Two years later both are hot garbage and irrelevant.

Why did these two QBs become shite so quickly. Is it because NFL defenses were quick to adapt to their zone read gimmicks and expose their passing ability?

Because they were overrated to begin with.

1) they both had offenses catered to their strengths and weaknesses

2) defenses figured out how to stop it a little bit and injuries and or a big contract made it hard to ask the QB to run around like a dual the at anymore and they couldn't adjust

Kap lost his coach. RG3 was never going to be good.

The dropoff was quicker for RG3.

ill never forget an argument i got into with football nostradamus. hes a good dude, but he and I got pretty heated and he was saying shite like "they're redefining the read option and executing in ways like we've never seen" and i was trying to argue that it would be completely figured out by DCs within 2-3 years

im still waiting for him to eat crow

The read option still works, all that was figured out was how to stop a basic dive option going to the house, teams can still easily pick up 4-5 ypc on a read option with good blocking. It just goes back to the old question of whether you want your QB getting hit running the ball.

Kap sucked with his coach too. Now he just has zero point zero chance with this staff.

I posted in the Kap thread yesterday that everything wrong with him is with his head. You don't get the combination of that kind of athleticism coupled with elite arm strength and suck unless there's something holding you back upstairs. Ds didn't figure out defending the read mechanics as much as they figured out that you press his receivers and send pressure and he might not make it past one read.

I don't know what the hell happened to Kaepernick, but his throwing motion is effed up. It's just ugly, slow, and he was throwing it all over the place. I don't recall it being that bad before.

Watching AARod sling it compared to him is a thing of goddamn beauty.

Because they were not NFL quality starting QB's to begin with???

stop listening to everything that comes out of some loser on ESPN's mouth is the thing to learn here. Trust your own eyes, if you know what the hell makes a player in the first place

Supposedly it's a "refined" throwing motion, new this year.

That's what happens when you can't read a defense.

QB play in the NFL have always been about the ability to deliver the ball from the pocket with good anticipation. It requires the ability to read the defenses on the fly and make good decisions.

Athletic ability is way down the list of importance.
