Years from now when people watch old NFL Films from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, they are going to wonder how players were allowed to act like such barbarians. It's a less entertaining game for sure.

They'll probably ask, "what is the NFL?"

those first 2 hits are still 100% legal

the ray lewis hit may be legal b/c the offensive player was trying to make a play. i think it's only illegal to blindside guys out of the play

They'd be flagged though

Need to start reviewing these penalties. Streamline the process and change the reviews to NY

They may be legal, but they get flagged 100% of the time, just like the last gif which is still 100% legal, and was flagged

and the second one isn't legal...defenseless player, but like I said...legal or not, they'll be flagged every single time and players won't make hits like that because they know it

The argument made for the last one being a penalty is the helmet rides up on the pads and goes into the chin, correct? I hate that rule and think it's a disingenuous interpretation of hit to the head area.

no, it didn't ride up, they threw the flag for unnecessary roughness

just like last year, Cleveland laid out a qb with the same hit and they flagged it...they used to have hours of footage of hits like that at the end of the year none of them flagged

now it's a few hits a year, all of them flagged

That hit on Luck got unnecessary roughness? That's insane.

yep, and not because the helmet rode up and hit him in the chin...the top sliver of perry's helmet touched the most bottom part of luck's facemask

the whip lash is because he was relaxed and didn't see the hit coming.
