First off, they've already seen that video, and second, he (Goodell) would just have another issue on his hands for changing a punishment he has already established

Anyone saying, "well she hit him first" is both wrong and a moron. For starters, outside the elevator she barely grazes his shoulder in an attempt to swat him away. Then inside the elevator, Rice comes up to her and pushes her and appear to spit on her. So he even started the physical confrontation in the elevator.

This. Seems as if though she was merely smacking his hand away as if saying 'don't touch me'.
She does the same swatting away of his hand a couple times when she becomes conscious & he tries to help her to her feet. Again 'don't touch me' swatting ,but not 'hitting him.
I don't know whether he spit on her (accidentally or purposely ) or whether was upset that he got right in her face & yelled .

that's what sucks. now every instance will be treated like the same thing, even though it is not. Essentially someone else is going to get punished for what Ray Rice did.
with that said, it's pretty easy not to hit a woman so...don't hit them.

Yeah, I have zero sympathy for McDonald. But he would have a legitimate gripe if he gets 6+ games while Rice walked away with a slap on the wrist. The NFL needs to pray he doesn't appeal and ask for an arbitrator whenever they hand punishment down, as that will bring this entire fiasco back to the surface.
