I think he brings up at least a valid issue: how much weight to give one incident when compared to the totality of a person’s life.

Especially when no one died or was seriously injured.

I remember thinking about this with Darren Sharper - he did some disgusting things but also contributed so so much for a perennially downtrodden city and fanbase.

Did you really just compare a reckless driving and hit & run situation to a serial rapist?

Sounds like Saban defending Alabama players.

Or we could have an LSU head coach turning discipline over to a player's peers. Nothing predictable there.

Process vs results

Rice could have done the literal same thing and if placement of cars around him were slightly different, people could have died.

Oh wait, never mind.

Isn’t state rep Royce West his attorney? He’s the go to guy for athletes in trouble in Tx.

No one goes on trial for their “body of work.” He’d be on trial for the incident he was involved in. Holy shite, is that even a real lawyer, or has our justice system really devolved to this?

He makes the public defender in My Cousin Vinny look competent. And that's hard to do.

“Why don't you do a story of who he is, as opposed to what occurred? Because it seems as though what you're saying is based on this one incident, you're going to define him based on this incident, as opposed to his entire body of work. I would say each and every one of you, if all of us had to be defined by one incident, that would be ridiculous, as opposed to our entire body. So I'd ask that you as the media, look at his entire body of work before saying exactly who he is. That will be better.”

So instead of a social score, we get a life score? Sounds good in theory but if I was a great guy all my life and committed one little murder I could get probation?

How dare we define John Wilkes Booth based on a single assassination. Please keep in mind his acting abilities as well.

You really think Sam Berkowicz should be defined by his killing spree? How dare you!

What a moron. You quite literally can be defined exactly by one incident. That's the point of the law.
