1) Bettman : the league and all teams have become viable businesses under his watch. Ratings have been fantastic this year despite lockout and has made the NHL a better more entertaining product.
2) Godell: hasn't fricked up
3) stern: NBA has become a worse product under his watch
4) selling: MLB is a complete disaster and a worse product under his watch - used to be America's past time

1. Stern
2. Goodell
3. Selig
4. Bettman

Football is still managing to increase in popularity, he turned the draft into a prime time event, Thursday Night Football has been a success.

I know he's a douche, but he's done some good things for football.

Anybody who doesn't think Bettman is last on this list doesn't pay any attention to hockey at all. (Nothing necessarily wrong with that, but it's an obvious indicator that they dont) His shite-tacular performance as NHL commish should lead many reasonable minds to conclude that he's actually a mole sent by David Stern to destroy the league whose season competes directly with his. We know Stern is ruthless enough to do it.

With that said:

1. Stern
2. Selig
3. Goodell
4. Bettman

Funny Selig is in the top half of everyone's list. Ten years ago he was at the bottom of everyone's list.

so much truth here

Stern was more than happy to let the NHL hire bettman away. Dudes had two lock outs and a lost season under his watch

Bettman is probably the worst commish to ever exist, and this is a sports board in Louisiana, so Goodell is satan.

As bad as Bud Selig has been (no world series in '94, a tie in the all-star game,....)

I still put him ahead of Roger Goodell & Bettman.

True. Goodell is satan here and to me. But I just happen to think more highly of Selig's work than most, though I'm not a huge fan of his as a person, either. I don't blame him for the strike since he faces the most powerful union this side of the Teamsters. And they learned their lesson and have had relative labor peace.

As for PEDs, I'd say the problem is just as bad in the other sports, but baseball got unfairly singled out. Plus that whole super powerful union thing made it hard to enact a serious testing program before shite hit the fan.

You mean like making the sport way more popular and getting record ratings and making the financial rules better so that small market teams can be competitive and not go bankrupt? You mean that type of shite-tacular? Lockouts were necessary and the sport is better because of it.

Stern ( I don't see how he isn't everyone's first choice)
Selig
Goodell- more like not rocking the boat. He brings nothing to the table otherwise
Bettman. Worst commish of the modern sports era

Stern gets way too much credit, he is horrible. He was a big supporter on the Sonics leaving Seattle. Knew the intentions of the buyer being invested in Oklahoma City and blamed everything on the city of Seattle when the move happened. Again looks like he is blocking a team from going to Seattle. Beyond that he fines players like crazy for saying when officials are bad. Which is more than he ever does when officials are bad. Help block the Chris Paul trade to New Orleans (the NBA's team at the time). He dictates too much and abuses his power.

Any sort of number values that even approaches the assertions you are attempting to make would be wonderful here.
