Be very carefull because the Yankees have big important plans for his future. I hope you either win or lose in 4 because I want his left arm in good, healthy condition. That was the major reason we folded so easily was because when you've won as much as the Yankees you know when you've been beat and with Cliff Lee, there was never any doubt that he wouldn't kick arse.

That being said, I don't want to see Ron Washington trying to be a hero pitching Lee on 3 days rest and sure as hell don't want to see his pitch count go more than 90.

Good luck and hopefully Texas will either win or lose in 4.

Not if he wants to keep the Rangers from being bankrupt again. He doesn't have 30 million to offer Lee.

giving cliff lee 30 million is stupid, even for the yankees, the league won't allow it.

the league wont allow it? lol. the yanks will throw about 10 million more at lee than the rangers and then he will be forced to take it. look at arod. he wanted to take less money and go to boston but the mlbpa made him take the most money and go to new york. the same thing will happen with cliff lee

Yeah, most people do, I am one of the few that does not want to give 20+ million to a pitcher whose contract will last till his late 30's.

If it was Felix at 26 then sure throw 25 million at him.

yeah. You can get a ton of prospects for that amount of cash.

But if the Rangers can somehow afford $25 million, GeauxTigers8 says that they'll (the Yankees) throw $35 at him. It's science. You can't argue with science.

Of course throwing a lot of money at one player is what got the Rangers in trouble in first place (see A-Rod)

No denying that. I was saying that GT8 says that the yanks will offer Lee $10 mil more than what the Rangers offer.

I think Nolan and Chuck are smart. They'll bid to a point, but they know they've got quite a few other players that need to be paid before we break the bank on one player. Hicks just ran everything into the ground with his investments, not just the Rangers.

If Hamilton can give them some sort of hometown discount and sign for 15-18 million then wuld they offer 22 million to keep Lee?

Personally, I want to see the Yankees build another core of players and having Cano/Gardner as elder statesmen.

Reads like the pus Yankees gave up. The reason you lost is because the infield is fricking old.

I would say yes. There are quite a few other variables too, like Andrus, Feliz, and a few others.

I just do not see any of them getting big contracts, however Rangers payroll will climb to the 120 million range after they resign more than likely.
