This is my question, what pitcher doesn't try to stay ahead of the count and not walk batters?

During that time I’d go Pedro>>>>Randy.

IMO the GOAT left-hander post-WWIi and second overall behind Grove.

Be curious to see the stats for Greg Maddux best 5 years compared to RJ and Pedro.

Randy has to get some credit for sheer usage rate vs. the other two. He pitched nearly an extra season of baseball in the same period.

Why are you including 2003? That’s 6 seasons

The OP is 1998-2002.

Nolan Ryan throwing 300 strikeouts at 42 years old was ALL-TIME greatness.

My favorite Randy Johnson moment was in the '97 all star game when he buzzed Larry Walker, and Larry turned his batting helmet around and got in the right-handed hitter batter's box.

One of my core memories as a teenage baseball fan. Incredible. I love Larry Walker.

Not sure why he used those same years for Maddux, either. They weren't his prime. His best 6 year stretch was probably from '92-'97.

Pedro's 99-01 stretch was the best stretch by any pitcher probably in the modern era... And Include Koufax... Because he was not pitching in the AL East at the height of the steroid era.

Pedro in the 1960s would have been beyond anything anyone had or would ever see again.

Best part about that is those dudes put those numbers up facing juiced hitters in the middle of the steroid era
