Because these young men are true student athletes and represent the best young people this country has to offer. Also no bullshite celebrations and thugging after every play.

I don't condone the way some of the Baylor players act. There is garbage on every team except the 3 academies; they don't allow it.

How do you sit through a Baylor game?

It's nostalgia.
Pure and simple.
But I love that it's promoted.
Is it USC-Notre Dame or Michigan-Ohio State? No.
But it's respect for the service.
And it's nostalgia for amateur sports. The service academies in Division 1 is the closest we have to that old notion - you go to college for an education and just happend to play sports on the side.

It's the best game of the year man. It's passionate, it's a rivalry, the pageantry that goes with it is unique. It's traditional football the way the game was meant to be played.

The only real student athletes in the NCAA that play football aside from Duke and Wake Forest.

Baylor has the worst little brother syndrome in the fricking world.

Other schools run their mouth and talk shite, yes. But Baylor does it EVERY frickING PLAY. It's one thing to celebrate and talk shite after knocking down a 3rd down pass, or making a big run stop on 3rd down, or catching a 15 yard pass for a 1st down. But Baylor will showboat and taunt and celebrate after making a tackle on 1st & 10 after the runner gained 5 yards. Why celebrate that? Gaining 5 yards on 1st down isn't a good thing!
The Texas Tech one is the best example. Tech receiver drops a wide open pass that would have been a TD and no one was around him. Nearest Baylor defender celebrates after the play like he personally broke up the pass and Baylor just won the national title.

Having said that, why is this game pumped up so much every year? Army is usually terrible and Navy is at best an 8 win team. So why does it get it's own weekend and why is it considered so special? People say "Well it's more than just a football game" but is it really? Yeah these guys deserve all the respect in the world but I just don't know why so much emphasis is put on this game.
You effing pinko commie bastard!!!
Because it use to be a huge game and it's a rivalry. It's just something that represents America's pastime and we all win. The game has decided 2 National championships. Ask Pete Dawkins, Doc Blanchard, and Glen Davis. It's Army-Navy game. It's a pretty big deal that represents 'Merica boy!.
My neighbor across the street was a Naval Academy graduate that served 20 years and roomed with Joe Bellino as a plebe. This was bragging rights among the military boys and led to fights IRL. Roger Staubach represents all that is good even though he was a Cowboy.
It's just a celebration of America's favorite game and for the guys who usually go own to serve our country. It's a way to honor them now.

Navy has won something like 14 games in a row over Army. Yet this game gets it's on weekend. It's a great rivalry game but the fact that there's so much emphasis put on it makes no sense to me.
Yeah but Army had the lead in the series until Paul Johnson brought the triple option to Navy.
