Pro Sports Financial Bubble

Are the next handful of years in all of the major sports here in the U.S going to be the peak of athlete salaries? With all of the cord-cutting going on the networks won't be able to give the massive sums of national and local tv deal money once the current deals expire, can leagues continue to make similar money via the digital medium?

Are you serious right now? There are tons of ways to make money off of athletes with all of the advanced tech and social media we have. We haven't seen the peak, owners are making out like bandits right now. You think MLB can plays their players so much just due to tv rights?

If anything the cord cutting will help sports franchises by allowing the sports networks to charge even more for premium live content. And people will gladly pay it since we won't be forced to buy bundled channels we never watch. Live sports has not come anywhere close to its financial peak.

NFL prints money, but I do think they shouldn't get too greedy on ticket prices because with high-def and everyone wanting to follow fantasy, attendance could be a problem. But, with the TV dollars, they could probably have empty stadiums and it wouldn't matter. And, it's only eight games per year.
No idea on baseball. The salaries seem insane and there can only be so much money in local TV deals. I don't understand the economics.
NBA seems really healthy and no end of growth on the horizon. The salaries for middling players seem like a lot, but the superstars are probably underpaid. I don't see a bubble.
I know it's off thread, but the college bubble will bust and the conference realignment will look stupid in hindsight. But, I guess conference commissioners have to chase the TV dollars while they can.

Sports are one of the only things people have to watch live. It will command even more of an advertising premium.
