There have been several articles recently about a number of soccer goalie's in the United States being diagnosed with lymphoma, thought to be related to the rubber pellets used on artificial turf.
Curious to see if we see more and more athletes with the same diagnosis.

Hopefully if that's what it is, it's the kind that is treatable with good results.

Small detail, but:

diagnosed with lymphoma

Either way, sad news.

I'll go ahead and tell you: No, we will not. Playing football or soccer on artificial turf does not cause cancer.

What a great attitude to have. Not sure that I would have the same optimism. Very admirable man. Good luck to you!

Burkholder indicated Berry, as well as his teammates, had a physical examination in June that includes a chest X-ray and blood work. "Everything checked out then," Burkholder said. "I've obviously been with him a lot this season and he didn't complain about anything until the [Oakland] ball game."

Damn...

"I am truly thankful for all of the support from family, friends, coaches, teammates and the entire Chiefs kingdom," he said in the statement. "At first I was in shock with the diagnosis on Saturday and did not even want to miss a game, but I understand that right now I have to concentrate on a new opponent. "I have great confidence in the doctors and the plan they are going to put in place for me to win this fight. I believe that I am in God's hands and I have great peace in that. "I know my coaches and teammates will hold things down here the rest of the season and until I am back running out of the tunnel at Arrowhead. I am so thankful and appreciative of being a part of this franchise and playing in front of the best fans in the NFL. I will be back!"

Man, this sucks to hear.

It's impossible not to like Eric Berry. Great player; great dude.

I really hope it isn't what they think it might be.

The Chiefs' doctors aren't going to release a public statement that it's believed to be lymphoma unless they're pretty damn certain it's Lymphoma.
