With so many elite athletes going down from an injury to this tiny ligament, I wonder if in the future some kind of procedure could be developed for athletes to have it replaced/reinforced before it's ever injured. I'm no med student or anything, so it's just a thought.

Haven't there been some pitchers who are already having preemptive Tommy John's too?

Are u really at less risk for acl tear after your first one? I'd guess no.

So you are thinking that the ACL will become like Tommy John? I had read where they have started replacing the UCL in HS players, just to make the elbow stronger.

No, its just not worth the risk, people come back from TJ at a pretty good clip on the 1st one, but its still not guaranteed and a 2nd TJ is almost a death sentence.

The surgeries on hs players is what bothers me. It's the result of parents only putting their children through baseball and not developing gpp and other general skills at an early age.

The interesting question would be how the leagues would handle this. In theory, that could be consider a performance enhancer.

It is not a performance enhancer if it is medically necessary and prescribed by a physician with documented surgeries or procedures.

Yes and it's getting a bit out of hand to be honest.
