I remember when I was a kid I saw sportswriter Frank Deford talking about the Colts Giants NFLCG, the sudden death game (it may have been the 30th anniversary). He had just watched film of the game, and he said the thing that struck him the most was not the different style of play, but how little the Colts celebrated after Alan Ameche scored the winning TD in OT (the first ever). A few sort of fist pumped slightly (and silently), but the great majority simply walked off the field.
That was in the late '80s. You can imagine what a stark contrast it would be today, with players celebrating first downs and sometimes even simple tackles.
