Jay Bilas talks about it here

When the offense retains the ball, i.e. offensive rebound, the clock resets to 14 seconds, as opposed to 24 seconds.

Upvote for in favor, downvote for against.

That sounds great. Also, the NBA really needs to hurry up and adopt the FIBA rule that the ball is live once it hits the rim (no goaltending). The rules of basketball were made before players were so athletically gifted. Once players started being able to dunk on rebounds, the rule should have been changed.

Players can also easily block a layup that's bouncing around the rim if you change that rule though.

I think goaltending should stay

I'l like to see 8 seconds to half court, 24 second clock, 8 second reset on offensive rebound.

Not really. It's like beer pong. How often do you really see someone dig one out.

And in basketball, they are more concerned with blocking the shot. A layup that hits the top of the rim and has a chance to be swatted was very likely not going in anyway.

I maybe mistaken, but a form of offensive goaltending was allowed back in the day.

This would increase the value of the 7 footer and traditional power forwards if this was done.

For the NBA: No, I like the straight 24 for any possesion.

College: I'd honestly just prefer less TO's and a 30 second shot-clock. If they adopted more of the NBA rule-book then yes, but if you aren't playing the NBA/FIBA game to a T, why try to adopt their clock rules?

I think FIBA has a point here. You're already in the front court. If you want to increase possession rate and help eliminate stalling in the game, then it's the way to go.

I'm in favor of college basketball adopting FIBA rules. Makes MCBB a better product and a better (and free) developmental league for the NBA.

I don't like it. Just keep the 24 second shot clock on the offensive rebound. I think FIBA needs to adopt NBA rules instead of the other way around. The NBA is the best league on the planet.

I wish FIBA would get rid of the stupid trapezoid lane. Dumbest thing ever in basketball.

Have the NCAA adopt a 30 second shot clock and widen the to the same size as the NBA and move the 3 point shot back to NBA length.

Agree with everything except I'd prefer a 24-second shot clock for college. Not sure shaving off just five seconds would make a huge difference.

Also either make college players stay for 2 years or adopt college baseball's rule--go pro or stay three years. There are players who are worthy of going straight to the pros--Garnett, Kobe, McGrady, LeBron, Howard. It's most of the rest that needs to be weeded out, and not by going undrafted.

I would be in favor of going to a straight 16 seconds for any possession that starts in the frontcourt...off reb, kick ball, etc.
