None of those teams would go undefeated in the SEC.

If that is the 4, I think you're right - they wouldn't want Michigan and Texas in the semis.
I think they can justify Texas at 3 in your first scenario easier than Washington at 1 in your second. Michigan just gave up 0 points in the champ game and Washington has SEVERAL close games this season.
You can make the argument Texas looked better because of today's game and put them at 3rd much easier I think.

They want to give Michigan the best possible chance to get to the finals, Texas is not the way to accomplish that.

Can't have a rematch in the semis...rematches are for Championship games.
Another failed College Football attempt to hide the money and Network behind it...they're pretending we already have a 12-team playoff by justifying screwing FSU...instead of the regular season being the playoff. Same old.
