Any AD that schedules one is stupid. Everyone said the playoff would allow for big time early season games because their was more margin for error. But it's obvious the committee values those games more than winning your conference.

Colorado could win the PAC12 tonight and won't be in consideration for the playoff because they chose to play Michigan. They could have played Idaho instead and tonight's game would be a play in for the playoffs.

You are catching on. 80% of this non OSU board is circle jerking over 2014 Baylor or TCU. They played Lamar Northwestern st Rice and such

Neither Baylor nor TCU played Lamar or Rice that year. If you are going to troll, at least use the real teams. Also, TCU played a power five team non Conference team that year.

As far as the OP is concerned, there is some truth. If OU had played some scrubs this year, instead of Houston and Ohio State, they would be in great shape.

Really same goes for Oklahoma. Don't play OSU and you are in the playoff.

Yea. I'm not advocating for eithe UW or CU. Just thinking that it's silly to play those games. I guess as someone said it doesn't hurt as much if you are a perennial power.

4 conferences of 16 teams.

9 conferences games. 3 OOC games. One from each of the other three conferences on a rotating basis.

or something.

Don't bring common sense in here. There's tv money at stake. (Never mind that a tried and true model exactly like that exist and is the worlds most profitable league)

Well playing at Oklahoma is one big reason why Ohio State is a lock to make it. If Ohio State plays a crappy nobody OOC schedule they may still be in but there's a much bigger debate over it.

frick off my bad

2014 Baylor OOC

- Buffalo (not the bills)
- Northwestern St
- SMU

2014 TCU

- Samford (not Stanford)
- Minnesota
-SMU

To you credit, you did correctly point out that you played one P5 conference team albeit a bottom feeder COMBINED

Carry on with your circle jerk

Yeah, LSU fricked up by not firing Miles soon enough, playing Wisky, and starting Harris.

Should have played ULL.

Exactly. It only hurts if you lose. If you win, you could easily be catapulted into the playoffs with a big OOC win as the tiebreaker.

On the other side of the coin, if Ohio State played Ball State instead of Oklahoma, OSU may not be in the playoff. Not only would it hurt OSU's resume, but it also wouldn't have eliminated Oklahoma. If Michigan didn't choke against Iowa (and Colorado beats Washington) it'd probably be in the playoff BECAUSE of its win over Colorado (which is both because it's a good win and it eliminates Colorado).

It's the same thing with conference championship games. Yes, they can hurt you. But they can also help. It depends on a variety of factors: what you're ranked at time of game, what your resume is, opponent, etc.

ETA: Guess I was beaten to the punch.
