Yeah, this is extremely sad
This world can be so cruel sometimes
Prayers to them and all their family and friends

Yeah, with the relegation/promotion system it's a little trickier to put in context. I think the best way to say it would be if a Triple A team had gotten into the majors a few years ago and without any big names went into the wildcard playoff and crashed before the first game (it's still not a perfect analogy, but it gives non soccer fans an idea).
I didn't recognize a single name on the team's Wikpedia page, which is really rare for a Brazilian first division team, so this team must have really had great chemistry.
Early reports named the goalkeeper and a back-up defender as survivors. Hope they make it through all of this.
Has to be a very eerie feeling for Athletic National to win the tournament this way. Unfortunately, I think this may be the end of the current team in Brazil as they are traditionally a very small side

Truly sad. You have to wonder if weather was a factor? I was just watching one of the "Air Disaster" shows and weather, plus an inexperienced crew lead to a perfect storm for a wreck years ago. Everything seems to be trickier when mountains are involved. I'm amazed there are survivors.
