Only 2 years left on his deal is the reason. Even if he hits next year his value wouldn't go up much because only one year left on his contract. If he doesn't hit next year he has absolutely no value and get nothing for him. I think his career is gonna go the way Matt Kemp has went. A terrible defender but can still hit enough to hang around in the MLB.

I love Cutch but the Buccos have a stacked outfield and Austin Meadows waiting in the minors.

If Nats include high end prospects, they need to take it.

Cutch for 14 mil is a steal as well.

Last year's Cutch would barely be a steal at 14 dollars.

He was really unlucky last year. Only a .297 BABIP.

Last time it was that low he bounced back the next year with a .375 BABIP and had a slash line of .327/.400/.553.

His decreased walk rates and increased K rates are worrying.

#Nats and #Pirates indeed talking McCutchen. Names I've heard involved are Robles and Lopez, but sense is Pirates would want third player.

those two and another prospect would be quite a haul.
i'm not sure if i was a nats fan i'd like that deal

Kendrys Morales is going to average 11 mil over 3 years.

Let that sink in.

Yea I hate to see him go but it could be smart if they get premier prospects. IF...

I like how one off season means he is "declining". And that somehow 2 years at a cheap price will push teams away

Would be a bad move for Nats, to give up their top prospects for a guy they will be replacing in 2 years or so.

McCutchen is not the same player he was. Guys body is showing the wear and tear. Sure, the 14mil per looks great for him, but buyer beware. Reminds me of Edmonds, when his body started to crumble, and all those dives, years on CF took their toll.

Nats shouldn't sell out for 1-2 years of Mccutchen.

The 14mil+option for 14.5 will be the reason teams are interested, and willing to pay a primo dollar. Cheap price for a guy like him, even with the risks of his body wearing down.

I would hardly call dealing Lopez and Robles along with a few other low level prospects "selling out". It's a good farm system and their core players on the major league level are still young.

I would like it more if they were planning to play him at a corner outfield spot

I'm in win-now mode. Let's do it. I can't deal with more Ben Revere or Michael Taylor.

Zim at first and no catcher of note remains an issue. Cutch makes them good 1-6, but still two big holes in the lineup.

one year playing injured can not be ruled a decline. Show me another year like that and then you can say that

Very curious what McCrutchen we would see. I kept waiting for him to turn it around last year and he never did.

I think its great for the pirates. They get one or two worthy arms. Nats hope.

He should bounce back as a hitter but he really isn't a good defender anymore. He's bordering on being a defensive liability.
