well at least Harper will only be 25 when his contract expires, so he'll still likely be playing at a high level for the majority of whatever contract he signs. I have never understood the point in signing 32+ year old players to 10 year ridiculous deals, when you can only hope they're playing at a high level for maybe half of the life of the contract

I went to the Phillies game Tuesday night. Every time Howard went up to bat, he was booed heavily by everyone. He also committed an error (shortstop's fault) and the crowd went nuts.
Amazing that just a few years ago he was one of the best and most popular players in the league. Now he's hated and considered a joke.

His last good year was 2011...guess what the Phillies gave him after that? he hasn't lived up to anywhere close to his contract only playing more than 80 games in two years since then...frick that bastard

Gotta love baseball. You bench the guy you're paying 25 million and then have to pay him 10 million next year to get out of the contract (and the other 13 million for that year).
