That should be easy. Jimmy G all the way. Belichick could win with a baboon behind center.

An older 5 time Super Bowl champ (maybe 6 by this time next year) versus a younger guy that hasn't done shite?

I can see this keeping the front office up at night.

A 41 year old Qb vs a 26 year old kid they picked in the 2nd round and groomed to be the successor. They reportedly turned down a haul of picks for him this year

Correct. Brady is staying. They will just keep drafting and trading QBs until Brady retires.

Reworded:

The greatest football player in ever, still in his prime, or some guy easily replaceable in any future draft.

This guy was on Russillo yesterday. It was like he wanted to make the argument that they will have a choice to make if Brady declined this year, but of he plays well then there's really no choice to make. Brady won the Superbowl last year and had a great season so why would he have some great decline this year?

It seemed to me like the guy wanted to have a hot take and then backed off of every statement he made. Came off as really "spineless."

People who think Brady is just going to play as long as he wants, deep into his 40s, are nuts. Father Time is undefeated.

Brady is nearing that age where QBs inexplicably just fall off a cliff. It happens and it will happen to him. He's got 2 years tops at the highest level. Maybe a year after where he's passable.

Sign Jimmy G to a big deal and let Brady play a few more years if he's still playing well...but I would hold on to Jimmy.

Jimmy hasn't done enough to warrant a big deal. He has two starts under his belt. Patriots can wait until Brady is on the ropes before drafting his replacement. He's not on the ropes yet.

Belichick isn't going to pay 2 Qb's significant money. Brady's cap hits in 2018 and 19 are $22 million. If you franchise tag Jimmy G it will cost you $23 mil for one year

Give Jimmy G a incentive laden contact if he'll accept knowing that he will succeed under BB, if not trade him.

They could also tag him but that's costly for a backup

As long as Brady keeps pumping himself full of HGH no reason to let him go

No reason for him to take that deal when he will get guaranteed dollars from someone.

if the patriots are sitting at 4-6 (give or take), do you bench Brady and see what you have with Jimmy G or do you let Brady play it out and go into the following season wondering what Jimmy can do? Hypothetical of course.

Play it out.

Brady has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt.

Have you seen the patriots roster? They might lose 2 games at the most all season even if Brady has some regression

If he hits the open market, some team will go nuts and pay him elite starter money. No reason for him to kick the can down the road again. He's gotta cash in at some point.

If they really believe that much in jimmy g, the better play would be to convince Brady to take another cut. Kraft could take care of him when he retires. Even then, I don't know if the numbers work. If Brady has a great year and shows no signs of wear, I think they let Jimmy walk.
