A parent is accused of punching an umpire in the head during a high school baseball game near Kissimmee, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Local 10 Orlando news partner WKMG, the sheriff’s office said the parent, identified as 41-year-old Jorge Ignacio Aponte-Gonzalez, attacked the umpire at Liberty High School on April 18, claiming he was “defending his kid” after the umpire addressed the child.

quote:

“The kid was being disruptive, so the umpire’s like, ‘Hey, tone it down,’ maintaining control,” Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said at a Wednesday news briefing. “They went back and forth a little bit. I don’t know exactly what was exchanged, but... that is what upset the father.”

quote:

“(The victim) has a son who’s in the Army, who has also a passion for baseball, wants to coach like him and umpire like him and said he hopes that he never has to go through this,” Lopez said. “He wants to make sure this guy never does this again to anybody.”

Most states now have laws to address this, and it isn't pretty for the aggressor. Lock that SOB up!

I'm assuming it was his kid that came out and looked shaken with disgust and disbelief. Parents can be so idiotic man.

My seven year old beat a team over the weekend and the parent coaches on the other team were caught cheating by skipping batters in their lineup to get their better hitters more at bats

Was thinking the same thing watching the video. Based on how he responded, #7 most likely was his kid

Odd little factoid to throw in the article

Yep - my assumption was #7 was the dumbass dad's kid. You could tell he was distraught about what his father did. Imagine being such a loser that you embarrass your HS school son like that.
