Canzano

quote:

The Pac-12 had an offer from ESPN of $30 million per school in the fall of 2022. The network wanted it all. But the presidents and chancellors wanted more. “We said we want $50 million per school.” ESPN's response? “Goodbye.”

Guess he’s spilling the tea now that the conference is dead.

More and more of this blame is starting to fall on the schools than George Kliavkoff, imo.

This is a good deal. The Apple deal was a good deal with potential to be a great deal.

Especially Cal and Stanford. They kept blocking expansion.

The media loves to push the narrative that the Big 10 and the Big 12 killed the PAC.

The PAC-12 did this to themselves

None of this is surprising. What a bunch of arrogant, delusional bastards. Hard to feel sorry for them.

if that's true, then holy crud, those presidents are dumb as hell. $30M/school? all things considered (size of fanbases in pac-12, interest, attendance, low population in west coast, etc), that's a damn good deal that they refused

Was this before or after USC and UCLA left?

And I bet they were comparing that deal to what the Big XII and ACC were making

Fall of 2022 would be after USC and UCLA left. They left like July 1st 2022.

With no USC or UCLA, they are frankly lucky to be getting a $30m offer for the whole league.

TBH, I only watch PAC-12 After Dark because I decompress after being at a game and like to see what's going on over there solely to fill time. I think SEC schools make just over that $50 million amount, no?

"Greed" it's amazing what money does to people with how poisonus they become in wanting more and more and more. Smdh It really is, looking at how the PGA has sold out to LIV golf for money as well as other situations concerning other sports. It's just really amazing to me how far they'll go to get what they want. Smh-Lol

Where is that bicycle meme where the rider sticks a stick in the wheel spokes to trip himself?

Someone should do that for the Pac10 (one of THE premier conferences in college history)…. They frickED up.

$800 million - $1.28 billion seems like way more than ESPN could actually earn then afford to pay out.

yep, and now they gone! That's just sad a great conference like that is no more, I can't believe it. A lot of history with that conference just gone now in the blink of an eye. Smh

Meh the west coast has already been completely ruined by the people that live there

Losing their little conference is practically nothing in the scheme of things
