Who knows? It depends on who these other teams are, who lost to what teams, who did our opponents beat, etc.

The only thing that's for sure is that our schedule is significantly less pathetic next year and if we go undefeated, or win the conference with one loss, we'd deserve a spot in the playoff. I didn't say we'd deserve it more than anyone else, because as I said, there are too many variables to know that right now.

And why would a 1 loss B1G champ not get in over a 1 loss PAC 12 champ? Did the B1G champ beat the PAC champ or did I have a mistake there?

You serious Clark? PAC 12> big overall and it isn't even close. The scenario was a 1 loss OSU champ. If it's MSU that's a different question. They deserve some respect.

I'm curious if they are a one loss conference champ next year if they get an opportunity to be a playoff team.

Pollsters allowing the results from previous seasons to carry over and affect judgments about following seasons is common but terrible.

The reality is previous bowl performances are often terrible predictors of future success. The year before tOSU broke through and beat a tremendous Miami team in 2002 they lost to a highly unremarkable South Carolina team in their bowl game.

The more subjective the system, the more inconsistent the results of the system will be. If you believe in a playoff and only have a limited number of participants (4) then you are probably obligated to take or at least preferentially consider conference champs as your participants. There can be exceptions to this if there are huge differences in quality of schedule but you should be really reluctant to make things more and more subjective.

Definitely the B10 took it on the chin this bowl season. But, except for the Michigan - Kansas State game (sans Gardner), the B10 teams were in every game till the end. No one ran them off the field.

Ohio State got a few gifts from Clemson / the refs, but gave them back with terrible ball security and a depleted secondary. They still end the BCS era 6-4 in BCS games.

I'm only serious in that the B1G played 5 ranked teams in bowls and the Pac played 2. When the conferences met, the B1G won.

I don't think the B1G is better, but tie-ins have some impact on bowl records
