From a clubhouse perspective, no the locker rooms aren't as culturally black as NFL or NBA.

I do wonder if that bugs black MLB players....but when you're making millions and millions and will be nice and healthy after retirement unlike those cool NFL players perhaps you should suck it up and be thankful.

American-born blacks don't really know how to do this . . . they perpetually want preferential treatment. A lot of it's not really their fault what with all the enabling and enfranchising the culture facilitates their worthless grievances with.

For what it's worth, most foreign darker skinned people I know are actually racist as hell. My boss back in the day was from Nigeria and he straight up told me he hated American blacks. He kicked a customer out for calling him "African American".

Fixed. Sorry inner city kids flock to football and basketball over baseball. Nothing to do with race.

Baseball is a time based sport. How many parent(s) in the hood have time and money for travel baseball? That kills the pipeline right there

He's 100% right.

Day by day, I'm increasing perturbed and irked by the silence of our white American athletes. There isn't a more self centered group of famous people then this lot. They only pick "safe" causes to champion. It's pathetic because their success is by in large paced by the sacrifices of other (minority) athletes

Who wants to be compared to the lowest on the totem pole? You can blame the media's depiction of black Americans for their rep worldwide. They don't receive good news about them overseas and they take those stereotypes verbatim

Yes, it's best to be self centered and not raise awareness for good causes.

That mentality is 100% unamerican.

Even if you accept that premise (which I don't) how does that explain all the poor as hell players coming out of the Dominican Republic?

Talent is talent. Travel Ball is not going to turn a kid into an MLB type player. It may help the fringe players stay on a roster, but people that are good enough for MLB are NOT dependent on travel ball to get there.

I keep waiting for one of these guys who doesn't stand for the anthem to say "I'm trying to begin dialog on living in a country where black men leave their children at an 80% rate"......I guess ill have to keep waiting on that.

My kid plays football, baseball, basketball, and swimming. Football takes the most time by far. Football season is every night and games on sat. Swimming is next at four morning practices per week. Baseball and basketball is 2 night/week.

They specialize and focus on it, plus their pro players go back to hold camps they. They put all their efforts into it and don't have other outlets. We have more feasible outlets here and quite frankly, black baseball players aren't going back to the hood to run clinic. I could be wrong, and correct me if I am, but the black American baseball players I know of mostly come from middle class backgrounds or they have lineage of MLB players in their immediate family

The player mentioned in the OP does exactly that, it's called R.B.I. Quite a few MLB players are involved in it.

What "unsafe" causes do you want them to promote if it irks you daily?

All this is turning into is trying to prove that you are black enough. Kaep didn't have good intentions at all when he first did it. His first reasons matched the malcontent label that he's had the last few seasons. He cought hell, and to his credit, he spun it around. Now he's being treated as a political icon all because he hated the country and backtracked.
