not talking about that. I'm talking about are the best teams in the country . I don't care who is "entitled" to be ranked there. I don't think anyone can say Bama has been playing like the best team by a long shot. Im talking about who are the best based on how they are playing so far.

Historically all offense teams struggle when they meet a real defense. Oregon has done this every year.

The only real defense in the SEC this year is Bama.

I think I'm not going to crown their asses until they play some competition up to their level. Not going to to Oregon bc they threw up 60 on Nicholls, same goes for the 'noles.

Play someone, then we'll talk. Thats why I have my top 2 as Bama and Clemson.

OSU has back to back wins over top 25 opponents. I know OSU does not have the best SOS by any means, but they are the only team in the country to be able to claim that (I think I'm not 100% sure). They started #2 in the coaches poll and have slowly fallen. I would have understood the fall if it was later in the year, but OSU has done nothing to "lose" ground this year except win

Edit: Yes, if 4 teams go undefeated OSU should be left out, but as of now, they have one of the better resumes of the undefeateds

LSU will have to play a flawless game to win though. I'd give Bama the edge right now. But wait for LSU's defense to get more experience under their belt.

This.

Why does everyone assume Bama would shut down Oregon?

Mariota is just as good as Manziel if not better.

Oregon doesn't just run read option up the middle. They can do most everything - and can go into pure passing on every down mode if they have to.

Mariota can sling it just like Johnny. If Bama played the run to "shut-down Oregon" - Oregon would go up top...and Mariota would run around and make plays.

Mariota must have won the super secret Ultimate Heisman

It may be different this year, but you're going to get a lot of because this is the statement made every single year until they are forced to do it and can't.

you're easily impressed. That 200 yds rushing and 34 points they gave up to BC just last week was amazing.

And who is really impressive this year? At least FSU has played decent teams overall. Their opponents records are a combined 17-8. Alabama's are a combined 14-12.

You must be that:

Heisman = best player in football

Guy.

I forgot. Heisman has a great history of proving that.

They threw for a shite ton of yards against LSU.

They threw for a shite ton of yards against Auburn in losing by a LAST SECOND FIELD GOAL for the national title.

(Emphasis because this seems to be a problem for SEC homer to remember)

And this isn't the NFL.

Oregon has Mariota now and different players. Year to year is different.

This is the real problem with college football overall, no one really knows anything

For example, the Pac 12 has looked very good this year, but they haven't beaten anyone who people really thing is national title good. Clemson is prob the only team who beat a top team from another conference this year.

The best OOC wins last year for the Pac 12 were probably Oregon beating up on K-State and Stanford winning the Rose bowl by 7 on a neutral field. K-State was good but not great last year and Wisky was a team who was 3rd in its own division.

The only time you can "prove" you're good is bowl season, when it's already way too late since the national title game is set.

Lets say the top 4 teams as of today go undefeated, since it's possible for all 4 to do so. The Pac 12/SEC champs play for it all. What if the ACC really is good this year, and they go like 5-2 in bowls? It's too late to fix the problem

A 4 team playoff solves that problem ONLY IF they are willing to take a 1-loss ACC champ over a 1-loss SEC non champ

Right, but just like there's always too much emphasis on past years in CFB, there's too much put on yards every week. Yards mean dick in the end if being forced to get yards that way puts your team into a spot of turning it over or leads to not being able to put points on the board.

I agree every year is different, and also agree Oregon looks better this year than past ones. I was just pointing out that if you went to this point of the year in past years, you'd find the same exact argument being had (hell, same on both sides really).
