Top 10 is a stretch, but an argument could be made. Top 15 no question. LSU was garbage in the 90's, but has had success in almost every other decade. They are a top 5 program of the 2000's.

quote:

1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Bama
4. FSU
5. USC
6. Texas
7. Notre Dame
8. Miami
9. Florida
10. Nebraska
10 b. Oklahoma
10 c. Penn State

Miami and Florida State were dogshit until the 80's. Florida didn't become a powerhouse until the 90's.

Ok.

That still leaves LSU out of the Top 10 considering all factors.

Not sticking up for anyone in this thread, but I think LSU fans are delusional if they think they are a top 10 national program in the history of CFB.

While what has happened in the last 10 years is impressive, football has played out a lot longer than since 2003.

LSU has more wins and more national championships than Penn St. We just haven't had a coach that was here for 100 years. Can't really compare conference titles since Penn St was independent for so long.

LSU and Georgia are nearly identical historically and deserve to be 10a and 10b.

Amazing that a thread that started with treating Chris Davenport like he was Reggie White managed to get 10 times worse.

Ok.

That leaves four or five teams vying for being number 10.

Still leaves a definitive top nine.

So, it completely destroys your point. In the 144 year history of CFB, LSU is a top 10-15 program. Are we Bama, USC, Michigan, no...but we're also not some johnny-come-lately, cape-tuggers either.

I think you can argue that LSU is at best #10, but I don't think you could go any worse than 12 or 13, either.

Regardless LSU fans are not delusional for saying top 10 because you can make a good argument for #10.

oh and Florida State at #4 is laughable

Princeton and their 5 national championships are sitting pretty at #30.

Tulane just picked up former Southern Lab standout Taurean Nixon who picked Memphis in Porters first year I believe.
