Florida State and Ole Miss will open the 2016 season in Orlando's Citrus Bowl, sources told ESPN.

The game is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, in the newly reconstructed Citrus Bowl. The stadium has undergone a $207 million reconstruction that's expected to be completed this month.

Orlando is the latest city to get in the game of hosting neutral site matchups on college football's opening weekend. Other cities currently hosting opening weekend neutral-site games include Arlington, Texas; Houston; Charlotte, North Carolina, and Atlanta.

Kansas City also will host a neutral-site game next year when Missouri plays BYU on Nov. 14, 2015 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The meeting between FSU and Ole Miss will be only the second between the Seminoles and Rebels. Ole Miss won the first meeting 33-0 in 1961.

Both teams participated in neutral-site games to open this season: Florida State defeated Oklahoma State in Arlington and Ole Miss defeated Boise State in Atlanta.

T'will be fun embarrassing them. Wish it were in Atlanta though. In all seriousness, it's fricked having to play this game considering the gauntlet that is the SEC west. At least it gives Florida recruits a chance to get familiar with the program

Have you seen the talent FSU recruits every year?

ETA: Oh, you may be calling OM dumbasses. If so, my b. Either way, should be a good matchup.

Now you will know what LSU goes thru every year. Play a top 25 team at neutral site before SEC west play begins.

Wisconsin
TCU
Washington
Oregon
West Virginia
North carolina

Would be great next year, dunno about '16.The Miss should have a decent number of juniors declaring after next year and back in status quo form.

both teams will be back to irrelevant then. FSU will probably be just coming off the jameis sanctions in 2016

My God that year is going to be absolutely loaded with great OOC games. Props to the teams that actually go out and play in games fans young and old enjoy watching.

While I am a fan of them playing this game, it still befuddles me as to why they couldn't just play a home and home in Tallahassee and Oxford.
