Oklahoma State is legit. They've been decent for five or six years now.

That doesn't make them a powerhouse. They need BCS appearances and consistent recruiting before they can be considered a powerhouse.

No. I don't consider South Carolina or Clemson to be powerhouse programs and both are above OkState and Baylor.

There are only like 5 or 6 true power houses in college football. Baylor is one of the worst programs historically of all BCS teams and OSU has just been mediocre.

I think Okie State is ahead of South Carolina. I'm pretty sure the Gamecocks have never even won their conference.

Meh. Oklahoma State is better in almost every aspect. More Bowls, better bowl win %, more heisman winners, more all-americans, more conference titles, more BCS games and wins.

Let's not get off track here, neither program has a particularly good history, but right now, USC is certaintly a better program than OkState. Neither are powerhouses though.

How?

If you are looking at just this year, they have the same record and both teams have a bad loss and a top 10 win. If they met on a neutral field this year, the spread would probably be a pick em.

I guess you could be a powerhouse for just a year right? A team could be "the powerhouse" team in 2014 I guess. That said I don't think either is there yet, although Oklahoma State might be getting closer.

Is it possible to be a powerhouse when your record against your biggest rival is 17-84?

honestly dude I'm not sure what you are arguing. Neither school has much history but OSU has one Top 10 finish is the last 30 years. USCe is on a run of 3 straight. It's not really much of a discussion. I don't think either school would be considered a current powerhouse, but if you had to pick one, it would undoubtedly be USCe.

Also, USCe was a favorite on the road vs Mizzou (and won). OSU is a dog in Jerryworld. So I think you're mistaken if you think it would be a pick this year. My guess is USCe -3.5 or so.

OSU/Mizzou spread is 1. Basically a pick em. Actually, you are right that it is a pretty stupid argument. I think USCe and oSu are pretty much on the exact same level as a program. Each has their case to argue. USC - 3 straight top 10 finishes. OSU -2011 conference title and BCS win.
