Replace Ohio state with Idaho

Replace Houston with Portland st

Oklahoma undefeated and in.

With only 4 spots and teams with cupcake OOC it's a shortcut to the path and an AD who wants to play real football in September aren't helping their teams reach the ultimate goal.

Because you'll get penalized for not playing an OOC P5

TBF, when they scheduled UH they probably weren't expecting them to be this good.

How much you going to penalize an undefeated team? You ain't leaving them out all the way.

And even then, it's a UH team that dropped games to Memphis, smu, and navy

Oklahoma's defense cost them a playoff spot, and losing to Houston and Ohio St.

Or a motivated Houston team that beats Louisville and Oklahoma

It would depend on the year and who they were tied with...

This year, yes. Another year, maybe not.

A smart AD would have let the defense get exposed in the playoff, not in September

Exactly. Okie was good, but not top 4 good. I don't think anyone is upset about this one. Dumb thread.

With that non-conference schedule, Oklahoma wouldn't have jumped any of the one-loss teams no matter what they did. The Big 12 is equivalent to the old Big East after Miami and Virginia Tech left. It's a wretched football conference.

I don't care about Oklahoma I'm just saying from an AD stand point if you your goal is to help get your team to the playoffs you have to think long and hard strategically about the value of your OOC and how to schedule it

A cupcake OOC give you a very thin margin of error for the rest of the season. But the 10 conference games to end the season have a much bigger impact than the 3 OOC games to start the season.

Your team wouldn't have gotten in the playoff if they played cupcake OOC teams, so it goes both ways.

I feel like you, out of all people should realize that.

Their defense gave up 854 yards to Texas Tech in October

Why does tOSU get so much credit for beating OU? OU is known to get beat by any team with a heart beat on defense. In fact, outside of beating Bama in the Sugar Bowl, they have a laundry list of losses OOC, including bowl games, dating back to 2008. Even in some of their wins OOC they struggled to beat teams with a glimpse of defense.

Houston did not win their conference

face it, Okies were not good enough this season.

what you are really saying is to be able to have benefit of rescheduling after the season.

you see, if teams being considered with Okies, LIKE Michigan, have a stronger OOC win than portland state, LIKE south division Pac12 champ Colorado, then the Okies would have been left out anyway.

there is a thread on the actual top 6. Michigan is 6. not Okies
Mich has a strong P5 OOC win over Colorado.

I'm an OU fan and I agree with this. Granted, we are healthy now and a different team than we were in September, but we can't complain when we didn't take care of business.
