I still remember in 2014 Ohio State fans lecturing TCU/Baylor fans over the 13th data point, how its the most important thing, and how you dont belong if you didnt play in a conference title game.

If Purdue or Rutgers had the same exact resume as Ohio State, would they get in over a 2 loss Big 10 champ?

NO.

Well that and they are 11-1 and just beat the #3 team in the country.

And they are 3-1 against the current top 8?

But why does that even matter? According to Ohio State fans 2 years ago, conference title games are by far the most important thing and the only thing that matters.

They've beaten three top 10 teams. I really hate that people on this board are making me defend Ohio State but it shouldn't even be a debate that they should be in the top 4.

Breh, beating the B12 champ at their crib is huge. I don't even think PSU's Pitt loss is that bad, but a 39 point drubbing should pretty much disqualify them..

True. But, they were outplayed in that game pretty significantly and of course didn't win their division. I think most people who watched that game came away thinking Michigan was the better team.

Has been and always will be about ticket, hotel, travel sales.

No fanbase brings more assholes to a game than Ohio St. TCU and Baylor fan bases don't even come close.

A conference title is more important than beating Lamar, Rice and Northwestern St certainly

None of that should matter according to Ohio State fans. Conference title games are the ONLY thing that matters. It was their justification for being in the Top 4 two years ago.

It has nothing to do with ticket sales. OSU had 1 loss last year and got passed over for the playoffs AND rose bowl.

That 13th data point was the difference between 11-1 and 12-1--the same number of losses.

This year we are talking about the difference between 11-1 and 11-2 so it's quite different than 2014 AND our schedule is vastly superior to Penn State.

No it's not. But the conference title game does give every team in one a quality opponent. It's still about evaluating a full season.

Then by this logic we were the better team against PSU since we had: 140 more yards, 1 fewer turnovers, 15 minutes longer time of possession, 6 more first downs, better third and fourth down conversion rate, and more rushing and passing yards.

It's a pretty big name... No different than Bama getting in back in 2011. I didn't want to play them again but they were the 2nd best team. If LSU (or any other SECW team) was 11-1 and didn't win the West, I would expect them to be in as well.

You have to ignore a LOT of comprehensive evidence to make this silly point.

Basically, when the humans AND computers agree, there isn't a whole lot to argue. In 2014, the four playoff teams were the top four in the former BCS computers. Same thing happened last year. Right now, Michigan is in the top 4 in the computers, but they're #5 in the CFP rankings.

Good for them, however, I hate this argument. If they all had the same schedule, then yes, but teams can only play who's on their schedule. How do we know Washington Colorado ..etc wouldn't have beaten those same teams?

Ohio State is going to get in, but I don't think they deserve it.
