Lebron averaged 28/8/4 on 57% shooting against San Antonio last season and lost in 5.

True. Like I said, though, I think the Cavs this year are better than the Heat were last year.

When you look at the total body of work, the Warriors are right there with the 14 Spurs and 08 Celtics. I think the 01 Lakers are the best team of the last 15 years if you have a hypothetical seven game series, but they were too lazy during the regular season. If the Warriors win it all, they could very well be considered the best team since the 97 Bulls.

Yeah, the 2001 Lakers are my top team, but they might not be the best in terms of complete resume.

Right now, the top three is 2001 Lakers, 2008 Celtics, and 2014 Spurs for sure. Warriors would bump one of them off if they win. 2012 Heat rounds out the top five of the century, IMO.

I want to say Warriors in 6 out of respect for LBJ's game, but I think the Warriors take this in 5.

I'm pretty much in this boat right there with you.

They can and it'll be futile. LBJ will have his way with any 1 on 1 matchups that Golden State throws on him.

Maybe they won't guard him 1-on-1.

They were the most efficient defense AS A TEAM this season.

I'm looking forward to the best series I'll have ever watched.

Well, you'll probably be disappointed.

A different animal indeed.........

There is no reason NOT to move this series up.. BTW I am not as big an NBA fan as you are.........And I just don't see the reason to wait until next Thursday...Screw that "we already have those dates set" bullshite.

I hope they don't. You just don't get that LBJ makes his teammates better. LBJ isn't James Harden......

You are in for a surprise my friend.

I get that you want it and you want it now but I would much rather rested teams for a better product on the floor.

Don't worry, I've bookmarked this thread. You are foolish to believe this won't be a great series.

You're bookmarking it for nothing, because you're arguing against no one.

Of course LeBron makes his teammates better. However, like another poster pointed out, LeBron was fabulous in the Finals last year, but he didn't have any help. He can't do it all.

Not saying it won't be. But I bet you (and many others) were saying the exact same thing last year before San Antonio embarrassed the Heat.

He's having the one of the least efficient postseasons in his career because of how much he has to do for this team.

Found the insider article I was talking about earlier:
quote:

So far this postseason, according to Basketball-Reference.com, James has posted a usage rate of 36.4 percent, which is an NBA high that also ties a career high he had in the 2008-09 postseason, when he averaged a mind-numbing 35.3 points. In terms of scoring load, James is in another stratosphere compared to his peers. To wit: Curry ranks second at 31.8 percent.

But James has also been wildly inefficient. His field goal percentage of 42.8 percent doesn't quite do it justice. He's shooting 17.6 percent from downtown and making 76 percent of his free throws. Once you factor in 3-point shooting and free throw shooting, we find out that his true shooting percentage sits at just 49.2 percent, while 52.4 percent is league average.

You're right. It's really not about any single matchup because none of them can stop him. It's not about stopping him though. Really, one-on-one seems to be the best way to defend him. Sag off a bit towards the paint and let him shoot. The question is will the Warriors remain disciplined enough to stick to it if he hits a few.

You double him you're asking for trouble because he will find the open man. He's wired to react to the double. You body him up you're encouraging him to drive past you. I think this series is decided on how they defend Lebron. If they react to him instead of dictating how they'll defend him, they'll be in trouble.

He's going to get his anyway. But what he prefers is if everyone else gets theirs first. Worst way to defend Lebron is to try to stop him.

Yep.

I guess the one wildcard is Kyrie. If he can be healthy and play to his normal level, that kind of changes things. Then LeBron doesn't have to do as much.

But if LeBron has to carry the same load in the Finals that he's been carrying this postseason, Golden State is going to win. It's just a matter of how long it will take.

It's not so much doubling or not, it's the entire defensive scheme. There's 5 guys out there, and Golden State is really good at being active in all spots and making it hard on the entire offense.

The Bulls are a good defensive team that has a few good individual defenders, too. They made LeBron work hard, and he wasn't very efficient in that series.

Sure, LeBron will get his numbers. To reach his maximum effectiveness, he also needs to be efficient, which he really hasn't been that much this postseason, at least compared to his normal standard.

We were all just discussing this at lunch today. Let him have 45-50. just let him. the rest of the crew can't put up stellar #s night after night. Dubs will wear him down over 7 if that were to happen, and the backups can't deliver them a trophy when you look at what the dubs trot out there.

This isn't last year and there are two different teams in the finals this year so I really don't understand why you keep bringing it up. The only thing that hasn't changed from last year is LBJ being in it and he has matured a lot in one year. And you laughed when I said it'll be the best finals series I've seen, so yea you are saying it won't be.
