I'm a long suffering Caps season ticket holder.
I fear the Flyers in the East the most - maybe Jersey if goalie gets hot...
what do people think about this caps squad? Could they make a deep run?or not enough grind/penalty kill/defense...?

Caps in 6. Lund steals a couple for the Rangers.
Philly in 7.
Philly in 7.

You are a season ticket holder yet you don't know much about the team? Or am I taking your question wrong?
Anyway, I think the lack of seasoned D can be a problem later on down the road, but with that offense and as long as Theodore comes to play, they could definitely make the SCF Finals. Jersey scares me the most, then Philly. But odds are, one of them will be knocked out by the second round.

What's up, GOON? Hope you guys kill the Pens, can't stand them.

Same to you and the wings.

I think they're good, but I would be concerned about the depth.

on and off fan of the caps since the oates/bondra days; hoping this is the year.

Depth is beyond good on the offensive side. They do need some secondary scoring from Laich, Nylander, and Fedorov, but I'm not worrying about that.
The Caps do have depth on D but it is weak depth, 3 through 8 are all marginal at best right now. Green and Poti are the only legit d-men the Caps have. Jurcina, Schultz, Pothier, Morrisonn, and Erskine are all really interchangeable. Alzner MIGHT get some play in the playoffs this year but I highly doubt it, but he is the future of the blueline along with Green.
Theodore is the huge question mark. His jekyll-hyde performances need to stop.

Speaking of depth, it is the main reason why I think Philly takes the Pens out first round. Their depth on offense is probably the best in the east.

I hear you. LSU and the Caps (only recently, but at least they had a plan in their down years) have been the only teams of mine keeping me sane. The Skins and Wizards drive me crazy.

The Flames are in a free fall. Their cap situation is so bad, they've been only dressing 14 skaters because they can't call up anyone without busting the cap. Everyone is hurt, espically three of the top four defensemen.
I'm finding a way to blame this on Jokinnen. Oh, and our coach is still Mike Keenan, who I loathe.
We're gonna lose to the Hawks in 5. BTW - the Hawks went 3-0-1 vs. the Flames this season with only one of those games being close. We're so screwed.

I'm a western conference guy. I will follow that closely and maybe watch a little eastern conference.
I watched less hockey this year than any year in the last 12 or 13 years, so I don't really have a feel for things.
Mainly because The Avalanche are a joke.

Flyers fan here!
I think the depth of the forwards for Philly is definitely going to make the difference in the playoffs. I hope Biron can find the magic he had last year. If so, the Flyers will be in the ECF again.
However....
Their first round matchup with the Pens is going to be difficult to watch, especially with the Pens having home ice. The Pens, as any Hockey fan with a brain is aware, benefit big time with the refs at home. I can see the Flyers running an assembly line to the penalty box while Crosby, Malkin and Co. perform their usual "flop fest".
If Philly gets by all the guys in black in the first round, look out.

TexasTiger,
You're right, Canucks always fail in the postseason. Everytime i think they got a shot, they somehow fawk it up. I wish they still had Bure...That dude was a beast.
