shel, I'm not doing this with you all morning. I agreed that Cal could have gotten his players up for the game. I inherently disagree with you that he could have gotten them to "max motivation" because that's something you made up, and is also the reason I'm calling you retarded.

Any further questions you have can likely be answered by re-reading this post again.

You don't have to, we both know you said 2 distinct and opposite thoughts, it's right there to see. We can stop now, I'm cool with that.

You agreed he'd give them equal motivation whether the quotes were said or not, that's what you agreed to...then said something otherwise afterwards.

and is also the reason I'm calling you retarded
No, the reason you're calling me retarded is because you realized you screwed up but are being too macho to admit it, so this is the alternative, you resort to name calling, cause you have no other arguments.

The score was going to be like that whether that dude said a few quotes or not

Maybe. Maybe not. However this Kentucky team is so much better than WVU. The only hope WVU had was to try and fly under the radar and sneak up on Kentucky in hopes that Kentucky would overlook them. Having their players run their mouth prior to the game assured that the only option they had wasn't going to happen, so it was a dumb mistake on the kid's part. He is a kid though, live and learn

you do realize I said this:

quote:

the point is that UK clearly looked like they were playing to purposely win by 40 points. I think UK wins that game easily 100 times out of a 100, but they clearly were still playing hard even when up big.

in the same post, which was quite literally me saying that UK was more motivated to blow out WVU due to the comments.

Ok, so I take that as a concession, you just realized your blunder.

You're calling another person a retard over a pointless debate. That's you taking this infinitely more serious than anything I've said.

No idea how you could gather that from my post, but feel free to think whatever you'd like.

So buried in your own argument that you can't see how stupid you are.

I think Kentucky was going to be up for this game no matter what. However the comments from the WVU players just gave the UK players a reason to pour it on if they got the chance.

It's the reason they were throwing alley-oops with a minute to go. They didn't even empty the bench until there were 30 seconds left in the game.

They would have been hyped up to play if the kid made those comments or not. The point is that they would have been more likely to take their foot off the gas when up let's say 54-19 with 13 minutes left. Or even 72-32 with 5 minutes left.

They didn't and I think that was a conscious decision.

You don't think they could have beat WVU by 40 anyway? Really?

They ran it up last night.

That's the point.

They didn't slow it down. They didn't put the end of the bench in until very late. The pushed and pushed. Harrison pushed and did a fancy behind-the-back layup in transition when they were up by 35. They tried to win by as much as they possibly could.

So no, if those West Virginia kids wouldn't have said the quotes pre-game, it wouldn't have been that bad. They would have let up.

If you want to argue that "it means that they don't play hard," then fine. Go right ahead. What I think happened is that Cal didn't hold them back. He didn't slow them down, and he left his top 8 players rotating in the game until just a few minutes left to play so they could send the message they wanted.
