@NBATV: TNT's Lewis Johnson reports: Mike Conley will undergo surgery to repair multiple fractures in facial bones Monday morning in Memphis.

He will apparently be in surgery around 7:30. They haven't really disclosed the severity of the injury and how long it will take for him to get back.

@peteredmiston: The fact that the injury was termed as "serious" & involves multiple fractures means Grizzlies fans should prepare for worst case scenarios.

Beno Udrih will likely get the start, but he missed Game 3 with a bum ankle. I wouldn't be surprised to see Calathes get the bulk of the minutes and possibly see some spot minutes from Russ Smith.

Best case scenario is obviously for the Grizzlies to complete the sweep tonight, so they would be off until Sunday. Then you would at least hope to get Conley back for game 2 or 3 of GS series.

If there was ever a chance for a team to blow a 3-0 series lead it would be now.

Back away from the ledge, the Grizz aren't losing this series

Beno plays tonight, they sweep. If not they close it out at home Wednesday.

The schedule is what worries me.

Only a day between the rest of the games, so they could really ride some momentum. If Beno wasn't banged up I'd feel a bit more confident. As good as Calathes at taking care of the ball, the offense came to a screeching halt with him in.

I do think Portland will quit if the Grizzlies get up on them early tonight.

Wouldn't the grizzlies be better off winning in 7?

They should tank the next three games.

Well hopefully we win and then we can have him back when we play Golden State

Why would that be better?

They get more time to get Conley healthy.

Best case is win in 4 and hope the Spurs/Clips go 7.

Putting yourself in a game 7 situation after blowing 3 games would be a disaster. Portland would have all the momentum and the Grizz would have all the pressure on them.

They aren't going play the Warriors until Sunday at the earliest.

That's what I came here to ask...

Will they start a round two playoff series if there are still round 1 series going on, or do all teams complete round 1 before any teams start round 2? Or is that a stupid question I should know better than to ask?

I think they wait, but I am not 100% sure.

Actually, I saw where they said game 1 vs GS could start as early as Wednesday if Grizz win tonight...If that is true, I would like us to lose tonight to give us some more time to get healthy.

That makes no sense. Golden State started their playoff series on a Saturday, and swept, ending on a Saturday. If they start on a Wednesday, that give them 4 days rest. If the Grizzlies, who started their playoff series on Sunday, sweep, they will only have 2 days rest. Yeah, I just want more rest for the banged up Grizzlies.

Edited to add:

Ron Tillery, the Grizzlies beat writer for the Commercial Appeal, said that unless the Memphis-Portland series goes 7 games, then Game 1 between Golden State and Memphis will be on ABC Sunday afternoon. So there's that.

Pete and Ron be talking to each other. I won't believe it until Chris Vernon confirms it, though.

Memphis has no shot against Golden State without Conley, so it's pretty hard to get excited about a sweep. I'm afraid he's done for the playoffs.

Chris Vernon sounding confident from what he has heard for the GS series. They will have to find a way to beat POR without him though no matter how long it goes.

The goal has to be to get him back by game 2 to try to steal one
