OBJ auctioned off the cleats after the game and donated the proceeds to cancer research.

It's like they want people to hate them.

They really are full on heel.

I mean he knows the rules.

If I show up to work in a bathing suit and tank top I'm probably going to be disciplined for it as well, regardless of it hurting anyone.

Good gesture by OBJ though. He's a douche a good amount of the time, but this was a class move.

I have no real problem with all these fines except there is no real trail on where the money goes. They say the fine money goes to charity but never say where exactly

They should allow the players to choose the charity the fine money goes to.

No problem with the rule. NO problem with the fine. No problem with OBJ wearing them anyway.

I'm totally fine with this. If the NFL lets players make statements via uniforms, then it will inevitably have to choose to endorse or punish political statements.

Agreed. If the players know they can't do it and still do, it's on them so don't complain about it.

While these cleats clearly fall outside of the "must be team colors" rule, the NFL has fined Antonio Brown several times for tribute cleats that are completely black, yellow, and grey/white.

For someone making 100k a year. That comes out to about a 700 dollar fine

Assuming "normal" folks are making the 52k median salary for the US, it would come out to about 685 dollars.

1.3% of his 2016 salary. About 20% of that week's game check.

Nah. According to google, OBJ's salary for 2016 is 1.366 million. 18k is roughly 1.3% of his salary, so for someone making 100k a year gross, this would equate to 1300 bucks.

That's his average over his 4 year deal.

His base salary for this year is 1.366

He also gets 1.45 in signing bonus. Believe his total is 2.8 for this season. Could def be wrong about that though.

Except the 100k is probably just taxed with no agent fees.

His 1.366mil is taxed and some went to an agent.
