Mate all I can tell so far is that they are not painted a solid colour.
For the first 45 seconds of watching this game I had the teams mistaken. JAX states helmets look exactly like USLs previous helmets (minus the vegetable).

Doug Thornton is so lazy. He uses the excuse that paint and paint removal hardens the rubber pellets within the field turf. This is technically true, but the Saints replace their turf so often that it's honestly not a legitimate issue to not paint things. It takes years of regular paint and paint removal to harden the pellets a noticeable degree.
