because I so rarely get to do this...a little throw back from our opening game of the year from Mizzoufan26

Cards going to start the year 0-1. Cubs will be 1 day closer to Bryant at that time as well.

Maybe, maybe not, only one of those two teams will be there at the end. You know who that is.

Liked Rizzo's post game presser giving a hat tip to the cards and the pirates acknowledging that while this is a big step it's still going to be tough sledding in the coming years with those two teams in the division.

Not sure mattheny is going to care for this too much.

Question for Cubs fans about Schwarber...

Is he gonna try to continue his development as a catcher or do you think this season has cemented him as a power hitting OF?

I'd love to have his bat in the lineup at the catcher spot. Those types of catchers are invaluable

Yes....some. But for hitting the ball like a maniac the plan was to send him back down to develop that aspect when miggy came back from his thumb injury.

Also yes. A power hitting C is much more valuable than a power hitting OF like you said.

Personally I don't think it'll work out for him at catcher, but i fully expect they try. I was skeptical before his bat carried him so fast that he would be able to improve enough. My best guess is you'll see him catch a time or two a week at best. But I just don't think you can find the time for the amount of improvement he needs when his bat is so valuable to the team.

If they can bring the DH to the NL, that'll be just fine.

I think he'll still catch part-time. I'm thinking this is David Ross' last year, and Schwarber will catch 1 to 2 days to spell Miggy.

I don't ever see him being a full time C, but part-time is a huge benefit with NL roster sizes. Just roster he and Miggy and replace Ross' spot with another arm or utility bat.

Yadi is right and Matheny is man enough to admit that Maddon managed better than him this year. It's a learning lesson for Matheny and the entire team.

Manage and play better.

Eddie Vedder's future plans

quote:

"We're touring and I have to leave before the World Series, we go down to South America. All I'm saying is that, the next few years, we're not going to play in October. This year I didn't think I'd have to worry about it!"
