I thought this board would enjoy reading about New Orleans up and down relationship with baseball in the Superdome.

Should have an MLB team, but we all know why NOLA doesn’t. It’s a crime.

Not so sure such a poor place can support 81 games

It's lack of population and corporate support, but you already know this.

That’s another way to put it.

There are several larger population metro areas than New Orleans that do not have an mlb franchise.

Austin/San Antonio
Indianapolis
Nashville
Charlotte
Columbus

Just off the top of my head…

They couldn’t support a AAA team in the suburbs with no crime and a strong working class

There would be more workers than fans on weekday games

All they had to do was not have a stupid name…

NOLA’s big chance would have been from the ‘50’s-‘80’s. It has been surpassed by many metros with more people and money.

The notion of how such a stadium would be paid for is laughable

And it would have to be domed or retractable, good luck with that price tag

If you were right, neither Baltimore, Detroit, nor Atlanta would have teams.

The wealth and baseball-interested population in these metros dwarfs NOLA tho

Oh bullshite. Chicago has 2 teams as does the Bay Area. Swing and a miss.

But that's his point. It's economics, not crime.

My family was the original owners of the Zephyrs and lack of support was not the reason for MiLB failure in New Orleans.

Yes, and crime still has nothing to do with why New Orleans doesn't have a MLB team.

I’m pretty sure me and my now BIL went to a Cubs spring training game in the Dome back in the 90’s.
