That hit by Orlov is the best hit I've seen in years.

Can't believe the Preds got outplayed in the 1st, and then dominated the 2nd. Hopefully they keep the momentum

Pretty good night so far. Caps dominate the Avs, and now both the Flyers and Pens are losing. If results hold, Caps will be back in 1st by the night's end. Still too early to matter, but it would still be nice.

There is some debate on the issue. In the rules, no. It is not explicitly illegal to flip a player. However, charging is defined as "shall mean the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner."

It's certainly violent, but it is not due to the result of the distance traveled. And if you watch the gif, he gets above the knees so he's not targeting that, and then lifts him almost as a precautionary measure. It's safer to go up than push him backwards and maybe his knee pops back.

The Avs were pretty pissed. Oshie called the hit "pretty cool".

You left out the first part, basically the most important part of a charging call the distance traveled or jumping into a player. It was always my understanding that the violence portion of that call come into play when a major or match was going to be given. Now that is completely thrown out the window when goalies are involved. I see no problem with that hit.

I hate that I live in Georgia. I want to watch Tampa Bay Lightning hockey games, but they don't broadcast here. I was a Thrashers fan, but decided to jump on the Tampa Bay wagon after the Thrashers left. I can pull up streams to watch them, but it's not the same as watching it on live TV. I'll be moving down to the Tampa area in a few months, so I am excited to finally get to experience a Tampa game in person.
