How do Leafs fans feel about the Kessel trade? Not the return, more just about losing Kessel in general....I remember an OT thread about Ramadan on HF forums and it turned into everyone bashing Kessel for being fat

After giving away Kessel for a bag of magic beans, the Leafs then sign PA Parenteau for a 1 year $1.5 million deal. So, proof that their front office isn't entirely brain dead. How does the same FO make a deal that bad and then a UFA signing that smart?

Thing is this means a real overhaul, Phil Kessel's 30-40 goals a year could seriously mess with our ahem "rebuilding regular season" tank job there is a funny gif on deadspin of the team on the bikes and Philly looking less than interested....and to Baloo frick off you can't ruin our Happy Canada Day Phil Kessel get te frick moment! Wooooo

Mike Green gets 3 years, $6 mil AAV from the Red Wings. Seems like a bargain, honestly. Short term, not that big of a cap hit. Wings did well here.

I doubt it. I'd love to have Semin on a 1 year, $1.5 million deal, but I think he'll go to the KHL. Besides, he doesn't fit in with the whole "culture change" thing. Semin's effort is, shall we say, inconsistent.

I think a humbled Semin would fit in great with the Caps. Plenty of Russians on the team, and there's an opening on the 2nd line wing... perfect for Semin. the drawback is he was let go specifically because of his attitude. Also, he has not bounced back from wrist surgery... without his wrist shot, there's not much reason to have Semin on your team.
Less the 2 million is a good, managed risk. I think he would be thrilled to be back in DC with Ovi. He might even give full effort in more than half of his games.
