Whoa!

Did the playoff game beat MNF?

I think it's hilarious how people on the MSB say stuff like, "lol its cute how hating the NFL is the new cool thing to do."

I don't think we had a game thread for MNF this week. Might have been Thursday. And the same day we had 2 or 3 threads for unranked college games. So I guess it was Thursday.

Our NFL game threads struggle to reach double digits. And all these shite NFL games are shite because of what we bitch/whine about.

Nobody is trying to be trendy here...the NFL just sucks arse.

College ball is just much more entertaining. ill watch college games all day while waiting for LSU to play. On Sundays i usually dont even watch the saints, i just turn on redzone in the garage and just half assed listen to it while im working around the house.

Last night’s ugly game between the Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets – which featured 20 penalties – managed to plummet even lower, earning just a 6.3 overnight rating. The game marks a slight drop from the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 6.5 rating from last week. It also puts the NFL squarely in MLB territory in terms of viewership, which is a scary thought for the once invincible ratings king.

Same Arizona, same ugly, but you switch out the New York media market for the Seattle media market. The ratings should be awesome tomorrow morning.

It's not like they've got two teams with good defenses and awful QB play on MNF tomorrow to repeat this 6-6 abortion.

Most of the eastern part of the country has gone to bed, so this dramatic overtime is not going to factor into the ratings.

The NFL is such a tame and boring product for the most part. I just can't find it in me to give a shite about it.

nfl has a money cow, merely wanted to keep milking it without any upkeep, thought they could continue on autopilot forever

This is bad news for college football also. Ratings are not going up for college ball due to decreased NFL watching. While college rating have remained steadier they are still below NFL games. The college game lasts longer and has more stoppages in play and more incomplete passes and far more uncompetitive games than the NFL. Sure to those of us who went to college and went to LSU games the pageantry will always be better, but we need to see this as an overall problem for football. If NFL ratings keep going down ratings for college football will follow.

We may be seeing an overall decline in the popularity of football that will impact all levels of football.

It was just the perfect storm for bad TV ratings in the NFL.

1. Protest
2. Election year
3. Top heavy qb league
4. Refs
5. Commercials
6. Overall political league many don't like
7. Baseball is having a great year
8. Now the world series has a great match up.

Who cares about all this. I watch every game that I can.

In March-August everyone will miss football and be reminded how great it is.

I also think that it's a "down year" for star QBs. Luck, Wilson, Newton, Rodgers all underperforming. Big Ben hurt. Peyton gone... Brees and Brady are the only two ELITE guys right now it seems.

Not to mention all the guys at QB that suck and QBs that no one has ever heard about. Taylor, Keenum, Kessler, Hoyer, Semien etc etc

This has been a long time coming. I think the kaepernick thing was just the straw that broke the camel's back

And with long time viewers finding it easy to stay away, they won't be coming back very easily.

tDecline is real. Fox Mulder told you this was coming

You think the NFL was on autopilot? They increased the nights broadcasting and they change the Rules every year

The NFL of 2006 could've coasted on autopilot forever, but they didn't do that. Goodell wanted to leave his mark. Mission accomplished. The NFL blows

To be fair, it's easily fixable. Officiating has killed the game, loosen that up and the game quickly gets better. I was thoroughly entertained by the ATL/SD game yesterday because the officiating was killing my enjoyment of it. It was better than any college game I watched on Saturday. CFB fans on this board overrate the product, it's mediocre just like the NFL.

The thing that makes watching NFL hard for me is the selection of games. College is easy because all of it is on TV and I can watch whatever I want. NFL tells you what they want you to watch and often times I don't give a frick about the teams they put on tv but I see scores for games I wish I was watching. At one point yesterday the only game on was Jacksonville and Oakland. I don't give a shite about those 2 teams.

Very good point, the NFL package is awful. Greed is killing the product and I'm glad fans are starting to push back. I still remain a fan of the NFL but there's no doubt it's got a major problem on it's hands.

That's an obstacle without a doubt but wasn't an issue until the product started suffering.

There was a time when I would watch any game period and would find it riveting. Now I don't even get extra enjoyment from watching the saints. It's all the same watered down shite
