And we're off with 1,657 submitting a pick in Week 1, down significantly from over 2,000 starting last year. Nearly 1,300 made it through this week, although that number can and will drop quickly. Last year's contest was finished by Week 10, and featured 1,418 survivors after Week 1, for comparison, although this year has a higher percentage of survivors so far.

There will be no repeat champion this year, since the defending champ (99DSTJ) picked Arizona. All of the winning teams were picked at least once this week, but nobody was eliminated with the Bears or Dolphins.

Also, as a reminder: Don't forget Thursday deadlines. For this contest, getting your pick in on time is half the battle.

Alive with Seattle

It'll be Carolina or Detroit for me this week. Leaning Carolina.

Alive (barely) with the Chiefs here.

Both previous years I've done this, I've gotten knocked out in Week 2. Hoping the 3rd time's the charm.

Why would anyone pick this....

I like Baltimore this week but picking road teams is tricky.

I try not to pick road teams. But I've never had success in this game...so what do I know.

I try not to pick road teams if I can help it... but then again, I've never gotten past Week 2. Thinking about going with the Panthers this week, in part because I wouldn't feel much like playing anymore if they start 0-2.

First year I do this. My strategy is to pick against who I feel is the worst team at the moment.

Nearly 80% of over 1,650 entries advancing is kind of surprising.
