It's a great city. People are acting like it's going to be hosted in Fairbanks

My brother lives near there. It was below freezing for like 80 days straight and snowed up til just a few weeks ago in May. So yea, it makes walking around outside not that enjoyable for anyone.

Why? The NFL had Super Bowls in Detroit and Minneapolis while he was commish.

Granted the Minneapolis SB in 92 was awarded just before he took the position.

Looking forward to Bridgewater winning his fifth consecutive Super Bowl in front of his home fans.

How anyone thought the selection was going to be anywhere BUT Minneapolis is beyond me. New stadium = Super Bowl host, quickly. For Christ sakes, the NFL has within the last 10 years held Super Bowls at such "destination" cities as Indianapolis and Jacksonville solely because they built new stadiums. If Juneau, Alaska had a NFL team and opened a new stadium next year, they would get a Super Bowl within 3 years of opening.

Lets face it, is there a US city better suited for hosting a Super Bowl than New Orleans?

Weather affecting the game not a concern - check
Generally mild temperatures - check
Stadium, hotels, entertainment all within walking distance of one another - check
Experience in handling large crowds - check
World famous restaurants and entertainment venues - check

Minneapolis is clearly an underrated city on here...it isn't as great a host city as NOLA, but it's still a good city to host even despite the weather. People should get used to this though, money talks nowadays, the whole wanting to give everyone else a chance to host is just a charade for giving the game to new shiny stadiums with a ton of luxury boxes for the wine and cheese crowd, gameday experience for the average fan be damned

It's like because another city can be a good host, we're saying New Orleans isn't the best, or even that New Orleans is a bad host. No one is saying that. New Orleans is the best, but other places can be good too.

So Prince is basically obligated to play Purple Rain in its entirety at halftime, right?

The stadium will be covered so the weather won't affect the game and if you think it is too cold to go outside you don't have to. The skyway system connects a lot of downtown Minneapolis and will connect to the stadium. You can go from your hotel to bars, restaurants, the game, the university of Minnesota, and a plethora of shops and entertainment venues without braving the outside.

It's ridiculous. If you want to hang out outside in cold weather just dress appropriately. Millions of small children learn this at a young age. You can have an awesome time at any large American city in almost any weather.

Those two are climate related and not a concern for a lot of football fans.

People are way too soft now. "Oh no it will be 30 degrees."

Wear a coat pansy. Simo Hayha laughs at your pussiness.
