I keep seeing NFL commercial promoting their fantasy football by showing actual players playing fantasy football.

Obviously they COULD be playing innocent free leagues but probably aren't.

I'm a little irked because how people get so up in arms about betting in baseball.

It seems like this is a form of betting to me but the outraged folks against people like Pete Rose are not outaged about this..ONLY because they are not having an opinion formed For them by the media saying this is a cardinal sin and should be also severely punished.

Logically shouldn't the people shitting themselves about any form of betting be voicing their outrage about fantasy football? Specifically If any money may be in the line?

Or is the hypocrisy finally shining through?

You're going to get hammered for this probably, but I think you actually make a pretty good point.

There is no way a player is gambling enough on fantasy to risk throwing a game they get paid substantially more money for.

Makes sense on the surface but if a player bet a $100 on a game his reputation would be permanently tainted.

Also a good point.

Maybe it's because all the major media outlets make absolute bank off of both hosting fantasy servers and giving advice that they aren't going to punish players promoting it for cheap

I forgot who, but someone took a dive at the 1 yard line to ensure a game when he could have easily scored the TD and made it a 2 score game. I doubt players will throw games because of fantasy, but that kind of subtle stuff would be almost undetectable. It can be done like point shaving, where it's not costing teams games, but is still purposeful manipulation of game results.

Looked it up, Maurice-Jones Drew and Brian Westbrook both did it, probably happened a few other times too.

saw where Wayne Chrebet (former Jet) plays in Daily fantasy leagues.

I think he's done better in baseball though actually.

Saints all but lost an entire season for what were not much more than $100 goof "bets."

Yeah, but MJD and Westbrook did it to increase their team's likelihood of winning.

Also, I thought it was pretty well known that MJD has played fantasy football for years.
