If that's your kid with a broken jaw and neck, are you still defending this play?

So you'd rather someone's emotional and irrational take on the subject over an objective one?

Why is it an emotional and irrational take when the hit clearly broke the rules?

Good. Breaking someone's jaw with your helmet should never be OK.

Lulz.

He wasn't punished for the helmet to helmet hit or a illegal high hit, he was punished for hitting a defenseless punter.

If you say so. If his helmet doesn't break the punter's jaw, the hit is not talked about because it is no longer illegal.

He got punished for trying to (well, successfully) decleat a punter.

It's still illegal because he hit the punter.

They could have hit him up with a larger fine if they thought the hit itself was illegal, and just tacked it on to the original.

Its pretty obvious the NFL thought it was a legal hit, just on a protected player.

You can block a punter. You can't go high and break their jaw with your helmet.

No, you really can't. I guess you can get in their way, and not touch them?

Even though Huber was trying to position himself to tackle or slow down Steelers punt returner Antonio Brown (who scored on the play), punters and kickers are considered defenseless at all times — even when affirmatively deciding to enter the fray.

Yes, you really can. You just need to not blow them up and break their jaw with your helmet.

A punter is considered defenseless, and that's how the league is punishing the situation.

If the league thought the hit was illegal, they would punish him for a "hit to the head".

What? He asked "what would you do if it was your kid." That's clearly an attempt at eliciting an emotional response.

It doesn't even matter though, the hit is illegal according to the rules. That should remove all emotion from it.

If anything, all the macho ment saying the fine is BS that's football or the one's being emotional and irrational. It was a blatant violation of the rules and should be punished.

I can guarantee you if Garvin would have just locked arms with Huber there would have been no fine and no outcry. There also would never be a flag thrown against that.
