NFL fines D'Angelo Williams for raising breast cancer awareness....

Oh, it gets more bizarre. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Williams hasn't just been wearing "find the cure" eye black this October; he's been sporting it for going on five years now, and this marks his first fine. Ironically, his first fine for raising breast cancer awareness comes during breast cancer awareness month.

NFL fines D'Angelo Williams for not following league policy. Throwing emotional arguments and scary words like "cancer" around doesn't change that fact. He knew the policy and decided to break it.

Articles like this are why I love zero tolerance/black and white decisions. Yes the NFL is enforcing their dress code policy, but Holy shite what awful PR this is.

I mean, I don't really see the problem. They clearly have this rule and have handed out the punishment evenly across the board as far as I know.
It's dumb on their part just because of the bad PR, but if they had as consistent punishment systems in the rest of the rule book then we wouldn't have all the Hardy/Ray Rice travesties and botched investigations

You mean the NFL isn't making any money on it like their "official" breast cancer awareness campaign, so we can't have that.

There are rules. It sucks but if the NFL lets Williams do it then they have to let the next guy support the charity he chooses and so on.

of course there are rules
but there is a difference between putting some shite on your eye black about breast cancer for the past 5 years and only now getting fined vs actual attention whoring. That's all I'm saying.

Thank god sheriff Goodell was so vigilant in enforcing this extremely crucial NFL rule. I mean the last 5 years of this jerk breaking the rule almost caused irreparable chaos.
