The #Steelers have reached agreement on a two-year deal with QB Mitchell Trubisky, sources say. The former No. 2 overall pick heads to Pittsburgh as the expected starter in place of the retired Ben Roethlisberger.

This may work honestly. I know trubisky got a bad rap in Chicago but were the problems really completely his fault? Pitt has some offensive weapons in place to make it work.

I think it could work too. Trubisky had the bad fortune of being with Chicago.

Last year Tribisky was radioactive as a potential starting option
Spends a year doing absolutely nothing on the field and now multiple teams were fighting over themselves to get him and hand him a job
NFL is a crazy place sometimes

Feels like there’s a world of other options I’d rather sign up for but alright

Like who? lol Winston was by far the best option out there as a FA, Watson by far via trade...
And theres no way the Steelers front office was signing either of those 2 because of the off field past, given the last QB's history a decade ago.

I'll take it.
Dude gets a bad rap. He took that Bears team to the playoffs 2 years ago. And that was w/Matt Nagy as his HC/OC. Now that he is w/a competent organization we will really see how good he is.
This also goes along w/Tomlin saying he wanted a vet QB. Now we can draft someone, have them sit, and if Trubisky is the answer we can trade the young one.
Thank God I don't have to hear the Malik Willis talk anymore. Today is a good day.

I guess I’ll wait to see what the numbers are, if it’s like a backup level deal then whatever I get it. If they are paying him starting QB money then I’d be sharpening pitch forks if I were a Steelers fan

No, Chicago is a clusterfrick.
I really like this. It could really work.

its a semi decent gamble if you're a team like Pitt I guess.

I would've been fine with Willis or a drafted QB - just someone either than Rudolph and Haskins.
Trubisky on a 2 year deal gives them a ton of flexibility to address other areas on the roster in FA, although historically they haven't done that in FA.
Rest of the Steelers offseason just got SUPER interesting.

I’d be completely fine if they just roll with him as the starter for this year and give up draft capital to go after one of the top QBs in next years draft.
The Steelers problem with their current situation is their defense is good enough to win them a handful of games.
They are likely going to end next season in the 10-15 draft order. They will still need to move up to get one of the top QBs.

willis seems like the guy people are squinting really hard at to make look good in a shitty QB class.
Hell they could still draft him and see if either hit.

They don't have a QB - had to start somewhere.
Trubisky has good mobility in a big strong frame.
Tomlin wanted an experienced, mobile QB. Could do a lot worse frankly.
Now they have to shore up the OL and DL.
