Totally agree.. Back in the day they recruited a bunch of corn fed run blockers and it worked... Neb has not been the same since they moved out of the option type offense............

leaving the big 12 was the worst decision nebraska made.

I don't think leaving the Big 12 was that bad of a move for Nebraska. Big 12 football has essentially evolved into essentially 7 vs 7, arena style football. I'm looking at scores of 70-53, 52-45, 55-52, 62-38, etc. I'm not sure Nebraska could have kept up with that. Nebraska just needs to develop recruiting in St. Louis, Chicago, and Ohio.

An affluent, stunning, picturesque college town...arguably one of the nicest college towns and campuses in America? That coupled with our elite academics makes it an easy sell.

Oh I agree. I grew up in Michigan... Just pulling your chain... AND at the same time Mich should NEVER and I mean NEVER have a 4-5 loss season with all they have to offer...Think about it..........

USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Auburn...I can go on have all suffered 4-5 loss seasons. A lot depends on coaching, turnover, injuries, etc. No one is immune to bad seasons in college football.

Leaving the Big XII was a good decision. The Big Ten is a much more stable conference and is a good fit for Nebraska.

Right now I don't think it is a dumpster fire or a rebuilding project.

I fully understand why they fired Pelini and why they hired Riley.

Pelini, while constantly winning 9 games, was getting blown out every year and was not representing the school in a positive manner. He created a toxic environment surrounding the program (that I believe has affected this years team) and had to go.

They wanted to replace him with someone who was experienced and bring calm to the program. Mike Riley was an experienced coach known for being calm and very likable. In addition to that he did well at an Oregon State program that was horrible for 50+ years.

I understand the hire. As of now that hire hasn't worked out. Whether it is because Pelini left the cupboard bare, problems inherited from the last staff or bad coaching, I don't know.

There is simply no excuse for Nebraska to have a year like this one and that does fall on Riley regardless of the reason. If he can't show improvement next year I wouldn't be shocked at a swift coaching change.

People need to remember that Pelini barely beat McNeese last year, got manhandled by South Dakota State and needed a miracle to beat Northwestern. The program has been hanging on by a threat for a while now and a change was needed.

I disagree with those that say Nebraska can't win again. They have great facilities, great fan base and a good academic school. With the correct coach there is no reason they can't be one of the top Big Ten school on a yearly basis.

I will admit that there is a rather large mountain to climb for that to happen. At the same time it isn't impossible.

I'm not, nor should anyone expect a return to the run the Huskers had in the mid to late 90's. That was an incredible run that will probably never happen again with any program due to the newer recruiting rules and changing landscape of college football. But the resources are in place that with the right coach Nebraska can definitely become a solid program again.

At this point Nebraska needs to rebuild just to reach Dumpster Fire level.

Do you realize what kind of record Mich had between 1969 and 1980???? Look it up.... Those are the years I remember and wish would come back.... Kinda like FSU from 1987 to like 2000.......
