Which started first, the investigation into Syracuse or the one into UNC?

As far as his wins, good question. I know when UK honored Cal and the "game ball" included wins from UMass and Memphis they made him give the ball back and it had to be stricken from the media guide. So I'm guessing it would be a similar instance.

how convenient that the NCAA left out the 2002/2003 Syracuse title year when vacating wins.

It may seem that way worse on the outside, but like I said, Syracuse actually got off easier than I thought they would.

What I posted just scratches the surface of the Administration issues they had going on.

Dont get me wrong UNC isnt a group of saints, but SU basically looked the NCAA in the eye and said frick you we will do what we want.

Imagine if Aaron Craft was deemed ineligible during his time at OSU because of grade issues and kept playing anyway while tutors turned in work for him that was multiple semesters late. Him continuing to play isnt exactly something you hide.

I wonder if the NCAA would have the balls to do even this to UNC. They deserve a SMU-like penalty. They're supposed to be STUDENT athletes.

UNC, but that case was closed and recently(after Syracuse) was reopened. The graduate school issues only became public last week. UNC will get slammed

12 scholarships over four seasons is quite a hit. Feel bad for Rakeem Christmas, but have zero sympathy for Jim Boeheim.

@BrianHamiltonSI How about this: Syracuse caught a break. Under new penalty structure, Boeheim would’ve been suspended, minimum, for 50% of a season.

A 12 scholarship reduction is basically a 5-10 year death sentence. I have no idea how they'll even field a team in year four of that.

Do the nine games include the NCAA tournament?

This was brutal, plain and simple. Boeheim will forfeit 108 wins and this will tarnish his legacy going forward. The loss of scholarships is monumental, basically the equivalent of 20 schollys for football. No one takes the NCAA seriously anymore, they wanted to make an example out of Syracuse, and they did. Next year Cuse will have a top 5 team even with the sanctions, but after that the program will be in rough shape for the forseeable future.

Yeah I don't get how they are going to make this work at all. Elite teams (and probably most decent programs) are always trying to find scholarship room, and now Syracuse is gonna be 3 short for four years? That is nuts.
