Thornton was charged with failure to stop and render aid and failure to provide information, both misdemeanors, after his moped hit a pedestrian near the intersection of Avent Ferry Road and Western Boulevard in Raleigh around 9:30 p.m.
Thornton was also charged with operating a motor vehicle on a sidewalk and for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Thornton was riding his moped on the sidewalk when he struck Jimmie Woodard, 23, of Raleigh, according to Woodard’s mother, Sharon. Woodard suffered lacerations in his lip and needed stitches, his mother said on Wednesday.
“I’m just grateful it wasn’t worse than it could have been,” Sharon Woodard said.
Thornton, 22, was arrested at his Western Boulevard apartment after he failed to provide information about his license and vehicle registration to Woodard, according to the court documents.

What are you whining about? Your dumbass player was driving an unregistered vehicle on a sidewalk, hit someone, and then left? Not the worlds fault he's a fricking idiot
The punishment won't be that severe. It's not a crazy big deal but he did something dumb, so he got punished.

He should have stopped to help the person he hit. He should have had information on his vehicle to provide the officer, no question the athlete is in the wrong. However, this kid's "injuries" are ridiculous.
Unfortunately, some people will want to leverage an accident or injuries for attention or in some cases, monetary gain. The presence of social media only exacerbates this problem.
