you're arguing that NOW? after THAT season/playoffs we just had? the NBA is at a really high level right now

No doubt! Two highly skilled teams went toe to toe in the Finals. The skill level of the teams playing was phenomenal. We would have more of this if the players developed their games longer in college

Three years of college greatly contributes to the
name recognition players develop with the casual fan.

this is the main reason the NBA adopted the 1-year rule, and it's worked wonders

True. Three years would be better you are able to develop multi year rivalries. The excitement generated by those rivalries follow the primary contributors to the NBA. Duke v UNLV, Duke v Fab 5, Georgetown v Syracuse, LSU v LMU.

We know who played in those games after all of these years. You cannot buy that sort of name recognition.

Most importantly they have had an opportunity to be young and make kid mistakes without being the lead story on Sportscenter

Good point. Wiggins and Parker are sure to be forgotten about by the media till next years draft. /sarcasm.

Applying the college baseball rules will kill college basketball's relevance.

How would having people like Durant for 3 years kill college basketball?

because you would likely actually get zero years of Durant playing in college.

Unlike baseball, basketball players actually have a viable alternate option to college basketball. You can still make decent money playing Euro ball. I'm surprised that more players don't go the Brandon Jennings route.

also, let's not forget how college can frick up tweeners. a KG or Josh Smith would not have become the NBA players they peaked at if they had gone to college

but we can't forget how much college helps people make the nba that would have had no shot otherwise.

i dont know what the frick this thread is about right now, but i was totally cool with allowing players to go pro out of high school and im also cool with the one year thing. i dont really give a shite and i think people overrate its importance.

If a kid isn't projected lottery and comes out at 18, that is on him. I have no sympathy for the James Langs of the world. It is very rare for someone expected to go in the lotto to slide to the 2nd round (Rashard Lewis).
